Sinner Edges Past Zverev and Wins the Vienna Tournament

The final of the Vienna tournament pitted the two top seeds, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner, against each other. In a tight first set, it was the German who took the advantage thanks to a break obtained in the 4th game.

Despite two break-back opportunities, Zverev held his service games and won the first set 6-3.

But the Italian had no intention of stopping there and quickly regrouped by breaking Zverev right at the start of the second set. Largely untroubled on his serve thereafter, he leveled the match at one set all.

As physical fatigue became noticeable, particularly for Sinner, he first missed 2 break points in the 5th game, before converting the next one in the 11th game.

He ultimately won 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and claimed the 22nd title of his career, his 2nd in Vienna.
