Burel's Grand Return Takes Shape: The Frenchwoman Has Resumed Training
Seriously injured in the knee last April during the BJK Cup with France, Clara Burel is close to making her return to competition.
Burel sees the light at the end of the tunnel. The 24-year-old French player, who suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee against Ayla Aksu last April during the BJK Cup tie against Turkey, then began a long period of rehabilitation.
While her 2025 season ended much earlier than she had anticipated, Burel worked tirelessly to come back as quickly as possible, and it is finally paying off. In a video posted on her social media, we can see the player from Rennes, who has fallen to 654th in the world rankings, in training, racket in hand, hitting the ball.
"A new knee, countless hours of rehabilitation, long days of re-athleticization, and 7 long months later... I'm back! The road is still long but... I will be back at the very beginning of 2026," Burel, who had reached a career-high ranking of 42nd last year, wrote on her Instagram account in recent hours.
The new captain of the French BJK Cup team, Alizé Cornet, who will likely work with Burel in the coming months, commented on her young compatriot's post: "Can't wait to see you back on the court," wrote the former world No. 11.
