Jovic discusses her progress on the tour: It's really difficult because the level keeps increasing

Iva Jovic is one of the great hopes of American women's tennis. Aged 17, the young player is already ranked 36th in the world and won the first title of her career earlier in the season.

Jovic is one of the revelations of the season. The American, who won the WTA 500 in Guadalajara in September, continues her progress and is getting closer to the top 30, which would allow her to be seeded in the big tournaments.

In an interview, she discussed her progress as well as the aspects of her game she still needs to work on to achieve an even better ranking in the coming months.

"I think it's really difficult because the level keeps increasing. But I think I have managed to progress well by going through the different stages. I started with ITF tournaments, then WTA 125s, WTA 250s, learning at each level. So far, I have managed to progress step by step.

My serve has improved, I have progressed in the first shots of the points. That's the big difference between the juniors and the pros: everyone is stronger, everyone can do more damage right from the start of the points. So I tried to adapt and make small adjustments to my game.

There is clearly a lot of physical work to be done: becoming stronger, faster, more explosive, and transitioning from defense to attack. I will work on my serve, my first ball, adding variety with slices and drop shots.

I will do it in stages, focusing on a different aspect each week, and then I will put it all into practice in the points later. I will also make some technical adjustments and fine-tune my groundstrokes," Jovic assured Tennis Up To Date.
