Auger-Aliassime - Musetti: A Long-Distance Duel for the Final Masters Ticket
Everything will be decided between Metz and Athens: Félix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti are set for a suspenseful duel to secure the final ticket to the Masters. A long-distance struggle where every point will count... and where the withdrawal of a certain Novak Djokovic could change everything.
The race for the Masters will be decided during the last two tournaments of the season, in Metz and Athens. This year, the suspense will play out long-distance between Félix Auger-Aliassime, 8th in the Race after his final at the Rolex Paris Masters, and Lorenzo Musetti, 9th.
The Canadian holds a narrow lead over the Italian, with 3845 points versus 3685 respectively.
Both players are aiming for their first qualification for the ATP Finals, but the path looks more complicated for Musetti. The Italian must absolutely win the tournament in Athens while hoping that Auger-Aliassime does not reach the semi-finals in Metz.
If the Canadian reaches the semi-finals of the Moselle Open, he will automatically secure his ticket to Turin. A loss by Musetti in the final or earlier in Athens would also be enough for him to seal his qualification.
Of course, the uncertainty surrounding Novak Djokovic's participation could reshuffle the deck, as if the Serb withdraws, both players would automatically secure their spot for the Masters.
