With this new victory against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-3, 7-6), Daniil Medvedev is regaining his form. In Shanghai, he showed strength against a very serious opponent.

Thanks to this win, the Russian marks his fourth consecutive victory against a Top 20 player. Davidovich Fokina (twice: Beijing, Shanghai) and Zverev (twice: Halle, Beijing). A record that demonstrates resilience, for someone who had endured very difficult months until now.

For a spot in the quarterfinals, Medvedev will face Learner Tien, a 19-year-old American revelation in recent months. Already ranked in the top 50 (36th), the young left-hander has nothing to lose and could boldly take his chance.

If he overcomes the Tien obstacle, Medvedev could face a player full of confidence: Alex de Minaur.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.

It's a shame that so many matches are being canceled. TT ,you are destroying your game ,and thereby killing your app. I don't know how many matches others have had canceled , but I'm at 3 and it's only thursday.
