Oliver Tarvet, ranked 719th in the world, surprised everyone by managing to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon, notably defeating Terence Atmane.

While a first-round loss guarantees prize money of £66,000 (approximately €77,000), this unfortunately won’t be the case for the British player.

Without professional status, he will only be able to pocket $10,000 at this Wimbledon.

He explained, as quoted by *Punto de Break*: "It’s a bit frustrating because I have to cover a lot of expenses, even though my goal has always been to return to university to finish my fourth year of studies.

What they’ve done for me here is simply incredible, I’m very grateful to them (he received a wild card for the qualifiers). I want to finish my fourth year and leave my mark on U.S. history.

I’ve been told I can only claim $10,000 of the prize, so maybe I’ll invest it to have my coach take a private jet and go home."

Tarvet will face another qualifier in the first round, Leandro Riedi.

Ok, i get his frustration. But to say you'll pay for a private jet flight after receiving so little, would be the most stupidest thing to do.

Hello I'm new

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
