Absent since the Australian Open, Shang has successfully undergone foot surgery

Juncheng Shang has shared an update. The 20-year-old Chinese player, who withdrew in the first round of the Australian Open against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (7-6, 5-2 ret.), has not played any official matches since then.
On his Instagram account, the world No. 55 announced that he had undergone foot surgery and would likely be sidelined for several more weeks.
"Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been dealing with a minor foot injury since the Australian Open. After consulting with my team and doctors, we decided that surgery was the best option.
I’m happy to announce that it was successful, and I’m already looking forward to getting back on the court," said the left-handed player, who won his first ATP title last year in Chengdu.
Shang had participated in the Next Gen ATP Finals at the end of December (losing all three of his group-stage matches) and reached the semifinals in Hong Kong in early January, where he withdrew against Kei Nishikori.
