Acapulco Results: Tien's Run Ends, Shapovalov Victorious and Back in the Top 30
The previous day in Acapulco was full of surprises, with withdrawals, walkovers, and unexpected victories.
But today, the favorites held their ground, as the four favored players claimed victory.
Brandon Nakashima eliminated David Goffin with a score of 7-6, 6-2. He will face Tomas Machac in the semifinals, who defeated Learner Tien 6-3, 7-5.
Thanks to this impressive run, the American will climb about fifteen places in the ATP rankings.
The other semifinal will feature a matchup between Denis Shapovalov and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Canadian will return to the Top 30 next week after beating Marcos Giron in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).
As for Davidovich Fokina, he didn't have to exert too much effort against Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez, winning 6-2, 6-2.
