After his elimination at Indian Wells, Fonseca starts the Phoenix Challenger perfectly
After his second-round exit at Indian Wells, Joao Fonseca took the time to enter the Phoenix Challenger to maintain his rhythm.
Facing Pavel Kotov in the first round, the Brazilian won in two sets (6-3, 6-4) after an hour and a half of play. He was never troubled on his serve (no break points conceded) and managed to take the lead early in each set.
In the next round, Fonseca will face a tougher test against Jan-Lennard Struff, the tournament's No. 4 seed.
