Coming through the qualifiers, Elsa Jacquemot was scheduled to play her second-round match at the WTA 250 in Cleveland on Tuesday.
However, rain interfered in Ohio, and it was ultimately two days later that the Frenchwoman was able to conclude her match against Solana Sierra. The two players had indeed started the encounter yesterday, with a score of 7-5, 1-0 in favor of Jacquemot before the interruption.
Returning to the court today, she needed a tie-break to ultimately win 7-5, 7-6 after 2 hours and 11 minutes of play.
For her first quarterfinal on the main tour, the world No. 98 will face Ann Li, who emerged victorious from her duel against her young compatriot Iva Jovic (6-3, 2-6, 6-3).
