After Zverev, Rinderknech Wins Another Five-Set Battle at Wimbledon

Following his big victory against world No. 3 Zverev, Rinderknech faced Garin in the second round of Wimbledon. Against the world No. 110 and lucky loser, he first dropped the opening set 6-3 before taking control in the next two.
However, just like against the German, Rinderknech saw his match interrupted before the start of the fourth set. Both players had to resume the next day in the second rotation on Court 17.
Though he had a scare upon returning to the court when the Chilean took the set, the Frenchman showed great resilience to secure the win. Relying on highly intelligent grass-court strategies, he notably won 77% of his points after his first serve.
In nearly four hours, he triumphed (3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-4, 6-3) to reach the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career. Another notable stat: the French player has now played five sets in his last six Grand Slam matches. He will play again tomorrow, his fifth consecutive day, against Majchrzak for a spot in the second week.
