Alcaraz, Awaiting Test Results, May Ultimately Withdraw from Madrid Tournament
A two-time champion of the tournament in 2022 and 2023, Carlos Alcaraz is making his return to the Madrid Masters 1000. Just days after losing the final to Holger Rune in Barcelona, the world No. 3, who suffered an adductor injury, provided reassuring updates about his condition during the Laureus Awards ceremony in recent hours.
On that occasion, the 21-year-old player appeared before the journalists invited to the event, expressing optimism about his participation in the Madrid tournament. However, at that time, Alcaraz still had to undergo further tests, the results of which may not be as positive as hoped.
According to journalist Angel Garcia Muniz, the four-time Grand Slam winner is still awaiting the results of some tests, and his participation in the fourth ATP Masters 1000 of the season could be in doubt.
Alcaraz still has a few days to recover physically and be at 100%, as his debut in the Iberian capital is scheduled for Saturday against the winner of the match between Yoshihito Nishioka and Zizou Bergs. A final decision regarding Alcaraz's participation in the Madrid tournament is expected in the coming hours.
