Alcaraz Extends Winning Streak to 20 Matches to Reach Wimbledon Third Round
After a tough opening match against Fabio Fognini on Monday, Carlos Alcaraz was far more composed in his second-round match at Wimbledon.
The two-time defending champion faced Oliver Tarvet, ranked 733rd in the world and a qualifier. The British player, who began his grass-court campaign at the London tournament as an amateur, had won his first-round match against Leandro Riedi, another qualifier.
In this highly one-sided encounter, Alcaraz dominated in three sets (6-1, 6-4, 6-4), though Tarvet fought until the very end, earning eleven break points throughout the match.
Unbeaten since Rome, Alcaraz has now notched his 20th consecutive victory on the tour. He will face either Félix Auger-Aliassime or Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round.
