Alcaraz has already arrived at Wimbledon
The grass-court season is the shortest part of the season. After just two weeks of tournament action, qualifying is already underway at Wimbledon, and some of the top players are already on site this week to fine-tune their preparations.
This is particularly true of Carlos Alcaraz. Last year's Wimbledon title winner, in the final against Djokovic (1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4), the Spaniard will now have to try to retain his crown from July 1, when the tournament kicks off.
That said, unlike last year when he won the Queen's tournament, Alcaraz arrives with imperfect preparation. Beaten in the quarter-finals by Jack Draper (7-6, 6-3), the El Palmar prodigy will have to do better, and to this end he has already begun training on London grass.
Like the rest of the top 10, the 20-year-old has decided not to play in any tournaments this week, concentrating on his preparation and acclimatization to the English surface.
