Alcaraz on the world No. 1 spot: "I don’t think about it too much. It would bring me extra pressure."
Carlos Alcaraz continues his excellent run at the Indian Wells Masters 1000, a tournament whose conditions suit him perfectly.
After his victory against Grigor Dimitrov, he was asked about the world No. 1 spot, a ranking he could reclaim in the next two months due to Jannik Sinner's suspension.
However, the Spaniard doesn’t want to think about it: "I don’t think too much about reclaiming that world No. 1 spot in the next two or three months.
It would bring me extra pressure. As I said, I’m focusing on each day and every tournament I play.
I want to do things right. If I focus day by day on the things I need to improve, the results will come, and that world No. 1 spot will happen.
For now, I’m focused on Indian Wells, and I hope to lift the trophy here. After that, I’ll think about Miami and the tournaments that follow."
