Alcaraz: "People expect a lot from me during the clay season. It's tough to handle."
Victorious in his first Monte-Carlo this Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz attended a press conference to review his tournament and the upcoming challenges.
With Jannik Sinner absent until Rome, the Spaniard has the opportunity to continue accumulating points and confidence during a period where expectations are particularly high.
He addressed this: "People expect a lot from me—I need to have a strong clay season.
They probably want me to win every tournament, so I imagine it’ll be tough to handle. One thing I’ve learned over the past month is that I have to focus on myself.
I need to focus on my own circle—my team, my family, my friends. Whether I win or lose, I have to leave the court happy. I have to be proud of what I’ve achieved.
That’s something I’ve learned, and it showed this week. I’ll try to keep the same approach as I had in this tournament."
