Musetti praises Alcaraz: "He is already a legend of this sport. When he plays, he has an aura."
Lorenzo Musetti fell short in the Monte-Carlo tournament final this Sunday against Carlos Alcaraz. Despite winning the first set, the Italian couldn't compete due to pain in his right thigh.
For now, he says he doesn’t know more about the nature of the injury: "We don’t yet know the exact nature of the injury, but it’s clear we will run tests in the coming days.
As you saw, I couldn’t finish the match properly, but in a final, I didn’t want to give up. It was the best way to end, even if I couldn’t play much more.
That’s how it is. The difficulty of the entire week, the long matches I played, had consequences today."
Musetti also spoke about his opponent, Alcaraz, against whom he delivered a perfect set to win the first round 6-3.
He didn’t hold back on compliments for the Spaniard: "Carlos is already a legend in this sport, even though he’s younger than me.
He’s breaking records, and on the court, you can feel he has an aura, so to speak. Today, honestly, I think I played a fantastic first set, which pushed him to change something in his game.
If I had been 100% fit, I could have kept more energy, which is essential to beat a player like Carlos. I hope to get my revenge soon."
