Alcaraz stops comparisons: "I don't see myself as Rafa's successor".
Interviewed by France 5, Carlos Alcaraz opened up on a number of subjects, including Rafael Nadal.
The world No.2, who has qualified for the last 16 in Paris, took time out to confide in C à vous about Nadal's retirement: "Rafa's retirement is regrettable. It's sad for Spanish sport, for sport in general and for me.
I grew up watching Rafa. He's one of the main reasons I wanted to play tennis.
He motivated me to fight, to train, to compete. I owe him a lot. I don't see myself as Rafa's successor. It would be a waste of time, given all he's done for tennis.
We'll try to enjoy his last tournaments and see what happens with me in the future."
