Alcaraz withdraws from Shanghai Masters 1000: "We believe the best decision is to rest"
After winning the ATP 500 in Tokyo, Carlos Alcaraz has decided to withdraw from the Shanghai Masters 1000. The world number 1 faced physical issues during his week in Japan, particularly a problem with his left foot that occurred during his opening match against Sebastian Baez.
On his Instagram account, he explained his decision: "I'm very disappointed to announce that I won't be participating in the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year.
Unfortunately, I've been struggling with physical issues, and after discussing with my team, we believe the best decision is to rest and recover.
I was really looking forward to playing again in front of the incredible Chinese fans. I hope to be back soon and see my Chinese fans next year."
