"An overwhelming majority of the best players are much more mature today," says Tsitsipas before Roland-Garros

Finalist at Roland-Garros in 2021, Tsitsipas is still seeking a new performance at Porte d'Auteuil. A quarter-finalist for the past two years and eliminated each time by Alcaraz, the Greek spoke about these recent editions, his current form, but also about this new generation of players:
"I felt very good during the last few days of training in Paris. I decided not to participate in Hamburg because it was essential for me to arrive in the best possible shape here. I did everything necessary to be ready for a major event like this one. This tournament reminds me of very good memories from when I was a finalist and played great tennis. I hope to regain confidence and get past the quarterfinals, which have been an insurmountable frontier for me in recent editions.
I am really my own boss, I push myself beyond my limits every day and work harder than ever. I've had a lot of physical issues for two years, and it's been difficult to manage, but I am doing my best to be physically perfect. I feel that the overwhelming majority of the best players are much more mature today than they were a few years ago when I was at my best.
The shots have changed a bit, nobody has weaknesses, everyone plays practically with two forehands, so I have to adapt my game plan to that. The intensity on the court is increasing, and you can perceive a rapid evolution of our sport in many ways. I must adjust my movements on the court to be more competitive."
Tsitsipas will start his tournament against the Argentine Etcheverry.
Paraphrasing Lendl, "If you don't move well you're not going to be in position to hit the ball. And if you don't hit the ball well you're not going to win."
I think the concept of having good footwork is probably as old as tennis itself.
Godspeed 🙏
