Andreescu continues her absence and withdraws from the Australian Open

Bianca Andreescu has not played since the Tokyo tournament last October, when she was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Katie Boulter.

Having withdrawn from last week's Auckland tournament, the Canadian has now also withdrawn from the Australian Open, where she had to go through the qualifying rounds.

Without knowing the real reason for her withdrawal, Andreescu, ranked 132nd in the world, will miss the first Grand Slam of the season for the second year running.
