World junior No.1 Emerson Jones was awarded a wild card in Adelaide.
In her first match on the WTA Tour, the Australian was totally unimpressed, beating Xinyu Wang 6-4, 6-0.
She said, "I've made a lot of progress mentally over the last year, I'm very excited about playing in this tournament and want to strive to improve every day."
Jones will play the Australian Open the following week, benefiting from a wild card.
