Andreeva on the support received after her breakthrough in Madrid in 2023: "I can only name one player who congratulated me"
Mirra Andreeva, crowned champion at Indian Wells and on a streak of twelve consecutive wins on the WTA tour, is set to take on the WTA 1000 in Miami, where she is obviously highly anticipated.
During a press conference before the start of the tournament, the world No. 6 reflected on her achievements in Madrid two years ago, where she reached the round of 16 by defeating three Top 50 players at just 15 years old:
"It was my first tournament in Madrid, and that's where I made my breakthrough. I can only name one player who congratulated me.
After, or I think even during the event, I received a message from Bianca Andreescu. She was the first and only one to do so.
She told me that if I needed advice or support, I could reach out to her to chat or call her. She was very kind, and she also sent me a message after my victory in Indian Wells, writing me some kind words."
