Andreeva suffers first 6-0 loss of her career and falls early in Berlin
The grass season isn’t off to the best start for Mirra Andreeva, who was defeated in her opening match in Berlin by Magdalena Frech (2-6, 7-5, 6-0).
The Russian, who has only eleven points to defend across all grass tournaments, had initially taken control with a dominant first set. However, she completely collapsed afterward, losing eight consecutive games from 5-5 in the second set.
This marks the first time in her young career that she has lost a set 6-0. Frech, buoyed by this victory over the world No. 7, will now compete for a spot in the tournament’s quarterfinals against either Amanda Anisimova or Bianca Andreescu.
