"I don't want to approach the rest of the season this way," Gauff reveals her strategy ahead of her grass-court debut

In the podcast *Nice Talk with Nikki Ogunnaike*, the recent Roland-Garros champion, Gauff, shared her thoughts before her first grass-court matches. According to her, her Paris title needs to be processed if she wants to perform well at Wimbledon:
"I think I can give myself the best chance to win Wimbledon by trying to downplay my victory in Paris as much as possible. I'm kind of trying to forget that moment, honestly. It's just about staying hungry. After my US Open win, I told myself for the rest of the year: 'I've won the US Open, the season is almost over, I'm pretty satisfied.'
I don't want to approach the rest of the season that way, especially since there are two other Grand Slams I could very well win. So I think I've learned from that mindset, and I'll try to forget about Roland-Garros. Not right now—of course, I'm remembering it now. But when the time comes, when I step onto Centre Court at Wimbledon, I'll try to forget."
Competing in Berlin, Gauff has received a bye and will face the winner of the match between Wang and Kasatkina in the second round.
