Arthur Fils defeated in the 1st round by Arnaldi at Roland-Garros!
Arthur Fils has yet to win a match in the final draw at Roland-Garros. Like last year, the 19-year-old Frenchman, now ranked 38th in the world, lost in the first round. Although seeded no. 29 (he was world no. 30 at the time of the draw), he didn't have the easiest opponent, as Matteo Arnaldi, world no. 35, was ranked higher than him on Monday.
Not consistent enough, Fils lost in 4 sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2) after 2 hours and 45 minutes of play on the Court Simonne-Mathieu. Arnaldi will meet another Frenchman in the second round, when he takes on Alexandre Muller on Wednesday.
