Bluffing, Zverev probably puts an end to Nadal's history at Roland-Garros
What a performance from Alexander Zverev. Resurrected since his triumph in Rome, the world number 4 delivered the perfect match, putting an end to the King of Ochre's run (6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in 3:05).
Faced with a Rafael Nadal probably playing his best match since his return to competition, Zverev never wavered, reciting his tennis. Excellent in all areas of the game, he gave the Spaniard no breathing space.
Nadal, for his part, clearly lacked percussion and rhythm. Evolving at a very fine level of play, the Spaniard was not yet ready to compete against such an opponent. Nevertheless, this kind of performance gives us hope for the future: Nadal is still capable of achieving great things on the tennis court.
One thing remains to be seen: was this the last time the Majorcan played on the Philippe Chatrier court? It's possible, but not yet certain.
