As a victor, Nadal confides: I need victories to build confidence

Rafael Nadal made a successful debut in Bastad.

Playing his first match since the French Open, the Spaniard mastered his game to dispose of Léo Borg, son of Bjorn Borg, in just under 1 h 30 (6-3, 6-4).

Interviewed on court after the match, 'Rafa' paid tribute to his opponent: "It's a huge honor to face the son of one of the greatest legends in the history of this sport. He played pretty well, defended very well, and I wish him all the best.

For my part, I need victories to boost my confidence. Playing in front of such a big crowd means a lot to me, it pushes me to keep training day after day."
