Nadal makes a successful comeback in Bastad!
Unsurprisingly, Rafael Nadal made a perfect comeback, disposing of Leo Borg with authority (6-3, 6-4 in 1h24).
Having not played since the French Open and a respectable defeat by Zverev (6-3, 7-6, 6-3), the Spaniard is finally back in action.
The Majorcan has now set his sights on the Paris Olympics.
And so, as the deadline approaches, 'Rafa' has just played and won his first round in Bastad. Returning to a tournament he won in 2005, the Spaniard displayed an excellent level of tennis.
Faced with the modest but unassuming Leo Borg, 461st but above all the child of Bjorn Borg, Nadal never wavered.
Excellent on serve and very incisive in the exchange (5 aces, 85% of points won on first serve, 24 winners, 5 unforced errors), the King of clay left us with a very good impression and is now through to the second round.
For a place in the quarter-finals, he'll be up against a player of a different calibre, as Cameron Norrie (42nd) awaits him.
An interesting first test, but within his grasp!
