ATP 500 Dubai draw: Tricky draw for the French, as defending champion Humbert takes on Lehecka

The main draw for the Dubai 2025 tournament is now known! In the ATP 500 category, the tournament promises to be a tough one.

In fact, defending champion Ugo Humbert didn't inherit a very favorable draw. The man from Metz will take on Jiri Lehecka, the in-form man on the circuit at the start of the season, in his first match.

Humbert successfully defended his title in Marseille before withdrawing from the Doha tournament in order to recuperate and be ready for the event in the United Arab Emirates.

The other French players also face a tough first round. Gaël Monfils, making his return to competition after an excellent start to the season, will face Matteo Berrettini, who defeated Djokovic this week in Qatar.

For his part, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will play Zhang Zhizhen. If he is successful, he could meet number 1 seed Daniil Medvedev, who will play Jan-Lennard Struff. Arthur Fils will face Nuno Borges.

Also in the draw is Alex De Minaur, the number 2 seed as in Doha, who will face Marin Cilic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Lorenzo Sonego, quarter-finalist at the Australian Open, while Andrey Rublev, who is playing in the Doha final this Saturday, will take on a qualifier.

Karen Khachanov will play his bête noire, Dan Evans, whom he has never beaten in five meetings. Last August, the two men played the longest match in US Open history (6-7, 7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 in 5 hours and 35 minutes).

Winner of two titles this season, Felix Auger-Aliassime, semi-finalist in Doha this week, will take on Alexander Bublik, finalist at the last edition in Dubai. A second round match against Fils could be on the cards.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
