Rublev wins his first title of the season in Doha

Andrey Rublev got the better of Jack Draper in the final (7-5, 5-7, 6-1) to win the 17th title of his career and the second in Doha after 2020.

The two men put up a good fight on the Qatari court, but at the end of a tight first set, Rublev took control with a fine forehand passing shot.

In the second set, Draper held firm, converting his second break point of the final at 6-5 to win the third set.

Just when you thought the battle was going to continue in Doha, the suspense quickly ended.

Rublev, who had been very solid throughout the week, managed to deal a blow to his opponent's morale by breaking from the outset, before consolidating his lead with a double break.

The Russian, now down to 10th in the world rankings, will climb one place to 9th on Monday.

A title that could be the breakthrough Rublev has been waiting for since the start of the season.
