ATP Awards: Mpetshi Perricard named most improved player of the year!
The ATP Awards continue to roll in this week. On Thursday, the ATP named Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard as the winner of the Most Improved Player award.
After starting the season ranked over 200th in the world, the Frenchman managed to break into the Top 100 in May after surprisingly winning the ATP 250 in Lyon.
Then, at the end of the season, he made a name for himself once again, winning in Basel to reach a career-high ranking of 30th in the world.
Mpetshi Perricard is the third French player to win this award, after Lucas Pouille in 2016 and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2008.
