Badosa Arrives at Wimbledon Despite Physical Struggles
World No. 9 Paula Badosa has struggled to compete consistently in tournaments over the past few months. The Spaniard, who has been plagued by recurring back issues for two years, missed nearly the entire clay-court season.
After withdrawing from Indian Wells and skipping her round of 16 match against Alexandra Eala in Miami, the 27-year-old only returned to action in late May at Strasbourg to prepare for Roland Garros.
Unfortunately, her physical setbacks continue to trouble her. Last week in Berlin, the former world No. 2 was forced to retire during her match against Wang Xinyu after losing the first set.
On social media, Badosa posted a message: "I'm tired of all this," which hinted at another extended absence. However, the 2021 Indian Wells WTA 1000 champion has indeed arrived in London, where the tournament will begin next week.
The X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed that the Spanish player has reached the London complex, with the main draw set to take place this Friday, June 27.
