Badosa on her back injury in Mérida: "I'm already working to feel better"

Back at an excellent level and having had a very good second half of the season, which saw her win the title in Washington and reach the quarterfinals of the US Open, Paula Badosa has confirmed her form at the start of 2025.
The Spaniard reached her first Grand Slam semifinal during the Australian Open, where she was defeated by her friend Aryna Sabalenka, who is also the world number 1.
However, the world number 11 suffered a setback this week at the WTA 500 tournament held in Mérida.
In the quarterfinals, while facing Daria Saville, Badosa was forced to retire due to a back injury that had already significantly disrupted her 2023 season and had forced her to end her year after Wimbledon.
On Instagram, Paula Badosa wrote a message to her fans, without specifying whether she will be able to maintain her spot at the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells, which starts on March 5.
"Hello everyone, thank you for all your messages and support. I had to withdraw from my match in Mérida due to lower back pain, but I'm already working to feel better.
I will do everything I can to be ready to return to the court as soon as possible, with even more energy than ever," the post on the social network reads.
