Currently ranked 292nd in the world, Barrere began his Roland-Garros tournament in the first round of the qualifiers. Facing the Czech player Svrcina, the Frenchman lost in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) after 1 hour and 36 minutes of play.

Lacking opportunism, the INSEP-trained player failed to capitalize on the chances that came his way, converting none of his three break points. The 31-year-old also committed 34 unforced errors throughout the match. Eliminated in his first match, Barrere couldn’t improve on his performance from the previous edition, where he had reached the main draw’s first round.

This season, the Frenchman had reached the quarterfinals of the Oeiras 4 Challenger 125 and the final in Nonthaburi.

It also didn’t go well for Ponchet, who lost to Serbia’s Radivojevic (6-3, 6-1). A quarterfinalist in Rouen, the 28-year-old exited the Parisian Grand Slam in her opening match. Throughout the encounter, she failed to win a single break point and landed only 42% of her first serves.

A tennis player's income depends solely on his sporting results. In the event of injury, the daily life of those far from the Top 100 can become extremely complicated.

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.

Born almost by accident in an Acapulco garden, padel has in fifty years become a global phenomenon that both fascinates and worries tennis. Its meteoric rise is already reshaping the landscape of racket sports.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
