Beaten from the start, Humbert disappoints
Big disappointment for Ugo Humbert.
Seeded number 13 in Cincinnatti, the French number 1 was knocked out in the first round by the ever-acrobatic Jordan Thompson (3-6, 6-3, 7-6).
Despite an excellent start to the match, the Tricolore lacked bite at the start of the second set, quickly finding himself embroiled in an extended duel.
Distributing the game very well with his forehand, he lacked precision in the important moments, committing a few too many unforced errors (28 vs. 11 for Thompson).
In the end, it was the 30-year-old Australian who advanced to the second round, where he will face Sebastian Baez, ranked 20th in the world.
