Beaten in the 1st round in Doha, Raducanu continues her run of bad luck
Emma Raducanu suffered her third straight first-round defeat, losing 6-3, 7-5 to Ekaterina Alexandrova at the WTA 1000 Doha on Sunday.
The Briton, whose ranking did not allow her to enter the draw directly, had been awarded a wild-card, her 12th in 16 tournaments played.
An invitation that didn't make the difference, as Raducanu, despite a break in her favor in each set, finally lost in two sets to the world No. 26.
As a result of this latest defeat, she will drop four places in the WTA rankings to 60th in the world on Monday.
Alexandrova, recent winner of the Linz tournament, will face world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the 2nd round.
