Before, I couldn't handle my nerves as well as I do now": Alcaraz discusses his changed approach to matches
Crowned in Rome on Sunday and now a two-time Masters 1000 winner this year, Carlos Alcaraz appears fully ready for Roland-Garros, where he will arrive as the defending champion.
In a press conference, the Spaniard spoke about the shift in mindset that has allowed him to enjoy a strong clay-court season:
"The feeling I have now is completely different from what I felt before the Miami tournament, for example. I approach every match differently, and it’s something I’m very proud of. I’ve found the right path again.
During matches, at certain moments, I feel different. Before, I was very nervous and couldn’t manage my nerves as well as I can now. I used to focus on other things that seemed important to me: the need to win and to achieve good results.
Now, I concentrate on other things, like being happy and proud of the moments I’m experiencing.
