"Before the tournament, we had exchanged a few words," says Draper about his partnership with Pegula
Jack Draper has advanced to the mixed doubles semifinals at the US Open with his partner Jessica Pegula.
In a press conference, he revealed he didn't know her before teaming up but is delighted to get to know her.
He states: "I think it's great to be able to meet someone from the WTA tour. Playing alongside another great player was a lot of fun.
I obviously faced two great players today, Emma (Raducanu) and Carlos (Alcaraz), Daniil (Medvedev) and Mirra (Andreeva). It was very enjoyable.
Before the tournament, Jessica and I had exchanged a few words. We're both kind of similar. I've seen her around before.
She's always in her own world, with her headphones on. I'm the same. I think we both don't really like people much. We don't talk to them. When we're on the tour, yeah, I just see her locked in her own world with her headphones."
Pegula and Draper will face Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek for a spot in the final.
