We already know the identity of the first two pairs to qualify for the semifinals of the new mixed doubles format at the 2025 US Open. Errani/Vavassori and Swiatek/Ruud have won their first two matches and are now waiting for the final four lineup to be completed to learn their respective opponents for a spot in the final.

Two more round of 16 matches took place. Top seeds Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper opened their tournament against Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. In a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium, the favorites on paper lived up to their status.

Fresh off winning a new Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati, the Spaniard was paired with Raducanu, the 2021 New York champion. But the anticipated showdown did not quite materialize.

A cut above in this match, Pegula and Draper won in two tight sets (4-2, 4-2) to advance to the quarterfinals. The American and the Brit will face the winner of the enticing upcoming clash between Olga Danilovic/Novak Djokovic and Mirra Andreeva/Daniil Medvedev for a place in the final four.

The other match taking place at the same time pitted Taylor Townsend/Ben Shelton against Amanda Anisimova/Holger Rune. In a closely contested battle, the two Americans ultimately had the final say, winning in two sets (4-2, 5-4).

So far, no match has gone to a decisive third set before the final two round of 16 matches scheduled for the coming minutes.

The last two round of 16 matches are on the schedule, featuring the duels between Olga Danilovic/Novak Djokovic and Mirra Andreeva/Daniil Medvedev, as well as Danielle Collins/Christian Harrison and Belinda Bencic/Alexander Zverev, followed immediately by the upcoming quarterfinals to determine who will join the first two pairs that have already secured their spots in the semifinals.

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
