Pegula and Draper Eliminate Raducanu/Alcaraz Duo, Townsend/Shelton Pair Also Through to US Open Quarterfinals
We already know the identity of the first two pairs to qualify for the semifinals of the new mixed doubles format at the 2025 US Open. Errani/Vavassori and Swiatek/Ruud have won their first two matches and are now waiting for the final four lineup to be completed to learn their respective opponents for a spot in the final.
Two more round of 16 matches took place. Top seeds Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper opened their tournament against Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. In a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium, the favorites on paper lived up to their status.

The other match taking place at the same time pitted Taylor Townsend/Ben Shelton against Amanda Anisimova/Holger Rune. In a closely contested battle, the two Americans ultimately had the final say, winning in two sets (4-2, 5-4).
So far, no match has gone to a decisive third set before the final two round of 16 matches scheduled for the coming minutes.
