Errani/Vavassori and Swiatek/Ruud Advance to the Semifinals at the US Open

The results keep coming in this mixed doubles tournament at the US Open. While four round of 16 matches have already been played, the first two quarterfinals also took place this Tuesday.
The first two pairs qualified for the semifinals are known: Errani/Vavassori and Swiatek/Ruud are now just two steps away from the grail. As defending champions, the two Italian players confirmed their status as excellent competitors in the discipline.
Facing the pair Karolina Muchova/Andrey Rublev, Errani and Vavassori largely dominated the first set before being put to the test in the second. Trailing 4-1 in the decisive tiebreak, they nevertheless found the key to turn the situation around and ultimately won the last six points of the match (4-1, 5-4), thus securing their spot in the semifinals.
They will face one of the following four pairs that have not yet entered the fray: Collins/Harrison, Bencic/Zverev, Townsend/Shelton, or Anisimova/Rune. Seeded number 3, Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud breezed through their second match in the tournament.
After dropping only three games to Keys/Tiafoe, the Polish and Norwegian players once again did not linger. In just three-quarters of an hour, the duo won with the same score as against the Americans (4-1, 4-2). For a spot in the final, they will face Pegula/Draper, Raducanu/Alcaraz, Danilovic/Djokovic, or Andreeva/Medvedev.
