Bencic crushes Dodin to reach the last four in Angers!
Belinda Bencic continues to perform at a very high level since her return to competition. The Swiss player qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 125 in Angers today, beating Océane Dodin (6-3, 6-1).
Before heading off to Australia for the United Cup, which kicks off at the end of the month, Bencic has continued to win matches since her return to the professional circuit.
In Friday's quarter-final, she showed no mercy against Océane Dodin, the tournament's No.6 seed, who had beaten the two Fruhvirtova sisters back-to-back this week.
Bencic was broken from the outset, but quickly came back to win five games in a row (from 0-2 to 5-2) and take the first set.
After the first set, she continued to dominate the exchanges at the back of the court to conclude the match in just 59 minutes.
Buoyed by her excellent serving statistics (8 aces, 82% first serves), the former world no. 4 is now the favorite to win the tournament.
In tomorrow's semi-final, she will face the winner of the match between Varvara Lepchenko and Dominika Salkova.
