Berrettini on his Davis Cup adventure with Italy: "It's a great honor to be part of the team".
On Thursday evening, Italy toppled Argentina in the Davis Cup. After losing the first point, the team led by Jannik Sinner finally came out on top.
The world number 1 won his singles match before going on to win the decisive doubles with Matteo Berrettini. In the semi-finals, Italy will face Australia.
A few moments after the match, Berrettini spoke of his joy at being part of the team and having been able to make his contribution.
"It's a special feeling. Last year, I was so happy to be there, but it's different when you can be on the court having fun with the best player in the world.
It's a great honor to be part of the team," he said on court.
"It's not easy for the captain, there are so many good players. I had to work really hard to earn my place.
I'm really proud of myself for everything I've been through. These guys make it easy. I'm really happy to be here.
I had a good game, but when you're playing with Jannik, there's a little less pressure. You know you're going to play well. I'd like to thank the captain for choosing me," he concluded.
