Big news for Muguruza: former world number 1 soon to be a mom!

After an exceptional career on the professional circuit, Garbiñe Muguruza is celebrating a new stage in her life: motherhood.
A professional tennis player from 2009 to 2023, Garbiñe Muguruza is a former world number 1. The Spaniard won 10 titles on the main tour, including the 2016 French Open, 2017 Wimbledon, and the 2021 WTA Finals.
Now retired, the former player, aged 31, had expressed in recent months her desire to start a family with her partner Arthur Borges, whom she met at the 2021 US Open.
"I would like to become a mother. It's difficult to plan it precisely, but when the time comes, I would like to be a mom, be happy, have a united family and dogs," she had told Mundo Deportivo at the time. Muguruza's wish is about to come true.
On her social media, the Spaniard posted photos of herself with the message "Familia," thus announcing her pregnancy. As the director of the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Muguruza, who played the last match of her career against Linda Noskova in Lyon two years ago, will give birth in the coming weeks.
