Lys, who loves using humor: "I feel like I'm an expert when it comes to the art of putting people in a good mood"

Ranked 68th in the world, Eva Lys has been steadily improving in recent months. A quarterfinalist at the Australian Open earlier this season as a lucky loser, the 23-year-old player is also very active on social media.
Over the past few months, the Kiev-born Ukrainian has not hesitated to use humor on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), while also sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of life on the WTA tour.
In a conversation with former world No. 1 Garbiñe Muguruza after the Madrid tournament, Eva Lys elaborated on her approach to tennis when she's off the court.
"It's very important for me to show all of this. Because I need to clear my mind as soon as I leave the tennis court. I love being creative. I like seeing the tennis court from a different angle.
I want to show tennis fans what tennis can look like—for example, what a training day is like. I’ll be honest. I’ve had a few not-so-great matches in recent weeks.
That’s why I feel like I’m an expert when it comes to the art of putting people in a good mood. Even if I think I’ve had the worst tournament or the worst match, I try to talk about it with my parents.
They then ask me to name five things that weren’t so bad. It was a bit tough at first. In the end, I’d come up with things that had nothing to do with sports, like: ‘At least my nails looked good.’
It might sound funny, but I think it’s an important part of staying in good spirits," Lys said recently in remarks reported by the media outlet *Tennis Up To Date*.
