During the second round of the WTA 1000 Madrid tournament, Eva Lys fell to Jessica Pegula (6-2, 6-2). The American, ranked third in the world, will face Moyuka Uchijima for a spot in the round of 16.

After the match, Lys posted a photo on her X account (formerly Twitter) following a service winner by Pegula that was called in by electronic line calling. Moments later, the broadcaster displayed a zoomed-in replay on the TV screen showing the ball clipping the edge of the service box.

However, on social media, Lys—the world No. 68—snapped a photo of the ball mark, suggesting the technology had made a mistake. The mark appeared to show the ball landing outside the court’s boundaries, contrary to the initial call. "Electronic line calling said the ball was in. The serve was out. Thoughts?" she wrote sarcastically.

This incident is likely to reignite debates over the use of electronic line calling on clay courts. In recent weeks, Lys herself has been among the players publicly opposing the system on this surface.

Hello I'm new

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
