BJK Cup 2025: China, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Japan Reveal Their Teams for the Final 8 in Shenzhen

Next September, Shenzhen will host the Final 8 of the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup. The quarterfinal matchups were drawn several weeks ago (Italy vs. China, Spain vs. Ukraine, Kazakhstan vs. USA, and Japan vs. Great Britain).
In recent hours, the team captains have also unveiled their squads, who will travel to China in two months to try and succeed Italy, who claimed victory over Slovakia last year.
As the host nation of this Final 8, China will face the defending champions with Zheng Qinwen (world No. 6, though she has withdrawn from the US Open due to a right elbow injury), Wang Xinyu, Yuan Yue, Zhang Shuai, and Jiang Xinyu.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan will naturally be led by Elena Rybakina, the world No. 12, who played a crucial role during the qualifiers in April. The 2022 Wimbledon champion will be joined by Yulia Putintseva, Zarina Diyas, Anna Danilina, and Zhibek Kulambayeva.
Ukraine will also make the trip to China. Captain Illya Marchenko has decided to rely on Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Yuliia Starodubtseva, and the doubles-specialist sisters Nadiia and Lyudmyla Kichenok to take on Spain.
Finally, Japan has also gathered its top players: Naomi Osaka, Moyuka Uchijima, Ena Shibahara, Eri Hozumi, and Shuko Aoyama. The action unfolds from September 16 to 21 in Shenzhen for the climax of the 2025 BJK Cup. For reference, here are the squads of the four other nations in the Final 8.
