Blancaneaux Falls Short of Main Draw at Roland-Garros

Facing Basilashvili on the Suzanne-Lenglen court, Blancaneaux was playing a decisive match for his qualification into the main draw of Roland-Garros.
Despite provoking 10 break points, the Frenchman was not effective enough (2/10) and couldn't find solutions against the Georgian, who was much more precise (5/7) and aggressive. Basilashvili secured nearly 29 winners throughout the match.
After easily defeating Kukushkin (6-1, 6-1) and Seyboth Wild (6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds, the world's 270th player exits Roland-Garros this Friday in two sets (6-2, 6-4). Last year, he was also defeated at this stage of the competition by the Serbian Medjedovic. Geoffrey Blancaneaux was one of the French players who won the junior tournament in 2016.
This season, he won the tournament in Brazzaville and qualified for the quarter-finals in Sarasota.
