Boisson advances to the final at the Saint-Gaudens tournament
As part of the Saint-Gaudens tournament, Loïs Boisson justified her wild card status throughout the week. The 21-year-old Frenchwoman, currently ranked 513th in the world, defeated Gabriela Knutson (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) before dominating three of her compatriots in a row: Alice Rame (6-3, 6-2), Julie Belgraver (7-5, 6-1), and Jessika Ponchet (7-5, 6-4) to reach the final.
In Haute-Garonne, Boisson will now compete for the title, facing Tatiana Prozorova, ranked 176th in the world. This will be the first meeting between the two young players.
The No. 4 seed, the Russian, dropped a set before finding her rhythm in the first round against Luca Udvardy (6-7, 6-3, 6-3), then cruised past Amandine Hesse (6-2, 6-0), Camilla Rosatello (6-3, 6-2), and Carole Monnet (6-0, 6-1).
In the last two editions of the Saint-Gaudens tournament, a French player reached the final (Alice Robbe in 2023 and Selena Janicijevic last year) but stumbled at the final hurdle each time. Boisson, who will return to the top 400, will now attempt to etch her name into the tournament's history.
