In a thrilling encounter at the WTA 500 in Seoul, Loïs Boisson got off to a good start but had to contend with the persistence of Ekaterina Alexandrova, who ultimately turned the match around.

After her success in the first round, Loïs Boisson aimed to continue her run at the WTA 500 in Seoul. However, the task seemed particularly challenging against Ekaterina Alexandrova, the world number 11.

The Russian was making her debut in the tournament in this match. In their first meeting on the main circuit, the Frenchwoman started well, breaking in the first game and maintaining a strong serve in the first set.

With only one break point conceded (and saved) in 45 minutes, Boisson logically took the lead. But Alexandrova is known for never giving up, and the world number 49 learned that the hard way on Thursday.

Soon enough, things got complicated for the 22-year-old player. Alexandrova quickly took the lead in the last two sets, going up 3-0 each time. Boisson was then too far behind to catch up.

Even though she had broken back to 3-2 in the deciding set, Alexandrova, well-advanced, ultimately wrapped up the match three games later (4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in 2 hours of play).

The 30-year-old player thus reaches the quarterfinals, where she will face Beatriz Haddad Maia or Ella Seidel. As for Boisson, she ended her streak of two previous defeats but was still not quite enough to overcome one of the circuit's most consistent players in 2025.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
